Mindfulness In Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy

This training is for you if you want to learn some effective, safe, quick and evidence-based practical ways to introduce Mindfulness to your patients. Helping them to release the benefits of Mindfulness, alongside the therapy that you are already doing with them.

"I would 100% recommend this course. I cannot explain what a fantastic use of my time and money this was. It's hard to find time as a student, employee and parent to dedicate to CPD but this training was without doubt worth every penny and every minute. I can already tell it is going to have a positive impact on my work and my personal experience as a healthcare professional". (Natalie, OT)

Aims:

  • Understand Mindfulness and its role in healthcare
  • Gain insight into the evidence-base for using Mindfulness in Physiotherapy and OT
  • Learn about the neuroscience of Mindfulness
  • Learn how to utilise principles of Mindfulness in short, simple and safe ways
  • Understand the benefits of bringing Mindfulness into your clinical work
  • Help patients to adopt evidence-based Mindfulness practices with practical applications

Mindfulness can help facilitate your treatment sessions and can benefit patients across many specialties. Mindfulness has been shown to benefit many medical conditions, such as in recovery from stroke by improving the patient’s awareness, comfort levels, and facilitating rehabilitation. Research shows that mindfulness can enhance recovery in both OT and physiotherapy.

By the end of this training you will be able to incorporate basic principles of Mindfulness into your day to day clinical practice.

Included in the cost of this training is access to a selection of Mindfulness practices which you can signpost your patients to.

"It is reassuring to know that mindfulness can be adopted into clinical practice to enhance the lives of others. Chris is a great teacher". (Bilal), Physiotherapist

What previous attendees have said:

Great CPD thank you. I liked the specific links to my profession. I learnt a lot in the 2 hours and it worked really well online. I would defiantly recommend my colleagues go on this training. Great introduction to Mindfulness and prospective applications to professions such as Physiotherapy”. (Aicha), Physiotherapist

"Really helpful, thank you. I liked the theory and links to OT including the use of activities of daily living. I think perfectly good for an initial 2 hour training. I had initially thought mindfulness was much more complicated to apply in practice". (Victoria), Senior OT
